Etsy is an America-based, multinational e-commerce platform, founded in 2005 and headquartered in Brooklyn, NY. Its' primary focus is on handmade and vintage items, with every seller getting their own personal storefront, where they could sell anything ranging from crafting tools and supplies to handbags, accessories, furniture, toys and jewelry. Among hobbyists, artists and small businesses, Etsy remains a popular storefront to sell their goods on.
About ETSY
Etsy was founded in 2005 by iospace, a small company made of Robert Kalin, Haim Schoppik and Chris Maguire. According to Kalin, Etsy's name comes from the fact he wanted to use a nonsense word - something he found while watching Federico Fellini's 8 1/2. He misheard a common Italian phrase "eh, si" (translated as "oh, yes") as "etsi", which he also attributed to Latin and French ("what if"), as well as Greek ("just because"), and so, the name stuck.
The store was in active development throughout its' first year, with added tools and functionality that helps its' sellers gain exposure and discoverability, including tags and the Shop Local category. This has lead to Etsy booming in popularity, as well as changing its' interface to cater to users outside of the United States.
By 2010, Etsy was popular enough to have 7 million users. A year later, Etsy introduced People Search, a Facebook-like social networking system that was intended to help buyers and sellers to find each other easily. This feature has become somewhat controversial as it made any past purchase with feedback easily searchable - a common complaint Etsy addressed and fixed later on.
Etsy as a company has become certified as a B Corporation in 2012, meaning that it has outstanding "social and environmental" performance according to B Lab, and has finally went public in 2015, a whole decade after its' foundation and years of active funding. Some of the notable investors up to this point were Albert Wenger, Spencer and Judson Ain, Hubert Burda Media and Union Square Ventures, as well as the founders of Flickr and Delicious.
Like with most other online marketplaces, the seller is the one responsible for shipping the item listed, as Etsy only serves as an intermediary. Usually, if the seller offers a free shipping guarantee, then every purchase bigger than $35 will be shipped for free; otherwise, the shipping fees are calculated based on the delivery service used. The seller also decides on the payment method, which, among others, can be PayPal, credit card or debit card.
According to Etsy's rules, every item described as "vintage" must be at least 20 years old.

Etsy delivery service tracking
Every order in Etsy is handled by various postal shipping and delivery services. Who's handling it depends on which carrier the seller is using and whether it's an international delivery or a domestic one. Certain originally domestic carriers, such as Deutsche Post DHL and Royal Mail, now operate worldwide. Certain stores, such as Aliexpress, have their own, internal postal service, Cainiao, to sort out all of they packages before they leave China and move onto transit.
No matter how far or close, eTracking is able to determine which courier is delivering the order and where exactly, as our Etsy shipping service tracking has that capability. As always, it's included in the detailed Etsy shipping status report.

What is Etsy tracking number
Etsy order tracking number is a unique ID of the package, used both by recepients and postal workers alike for ease of identification. Those depend on the courier handling it and the country it's arriving from, as they come in different formats, with S10 being the most internationally accepted one, starting with the recepient's country code, followed by eight unique numbers, one check digit and the sender's country code.
Domestic postal services and international carriers, as well as their sister companies, each have their own tracking number formats. Some of the more popular carriers use the following:
- USPS: 20 digits; or 10 digits for Global Express Guaranteed(R);
- UPS: United Parcel Service: 18 symbols, starting with 1Z and ending with a check digit;
- DHL Express: 10 digits; otherwise, 000, JJD00, JJD01, JVGL or similar, followed by 8 digits;
- DHL Ecommerce: GM, LX, RX or similar, followed by a unique ID from 10 to 39 digits;
- Fedex: 12 or 15 digits;
- China Post/4PX Express: same as the 9-digit format, but starting with the letters AQ.
How to find Etsy tracking number
Etsy package tracking number is usually provided by Etsy itself after the order is confirmed and the parcel is sent off. Usually, to find it, all you need to do is check either the store's orders page, or the order confirmation email.
Where is the Etsy tracking number, if neither of the above have it? Bear in mind that certain items require you to pay extra to provide detailed package tracking, or any kind of tracking at all, which might be why your package isn't present in most postal databases out there. If you're not sure, or if you're certain there is tracking attached to your item, make sure you check out Etsy 's help pages or, if you still have no luck finding it, call Etsy 's customer support.
ETSY tracking number format
The format of an international Etsy tracking number depends on what service the seller uses for shipping their goods.
Most items shipped from the Western Hemisphere will use UPS, Canada Post, USPS or FeDex, each with various delivery services, both domestic and international, and both normal and expedited, each with different tracking number formats.
Bear in mind that if you have specific requirements for delivery, it's best to discuss it with the seller.
